Multiple myelomas. Multiple myeloma cells are abnormal plasma cells (a type of white blood cell) that build up in the bone marrow and form tumors in many bones in the body. Normal plasma cells make antibodies to help the body fight infection and disease.
Multiple myeloma is a type of blood cancer that affects plasma cells in the bone marrow. Multiple myeloma is caused by mutations in genes involved in cell growth and survival, and this panel tests for genetic variants that are known to affect these processes.
This panel is designed for individuals who have been diagnosed with multiple myeloma or who have a family history of the condition. Genetic testing can provide information on disease risk and severity, as well as inform treatment and management decisions. Testing can also inform family planning decisions and provide reassurance for unaffected family members.
The analysis takes into consideration the mutation of germline DNA, it investigates SNP and Indel mutations up to 150 bp.
