Male infertility panel is used to identify genetic variants associated with male infertility, a condition in which a man is unable to father a child due to a problem with sperm production, function, or delivery. Male infertility is caused by mutations in genes involved in testicular development and function, as well as genes involved in sperm motility and structure, and this panel tests for genetic variants that are known to affect these processes.
This panel is designed for men with a history of infertility or men who are undergoing infertility evaluation. Genetic testing can provide information on the underlying cause of infertility, inform treatment and management decisions, and guide family planning decisions. Testing can also provide reassurance for unaffected family members.
The analysis takes into consideration the mutation of germline DNA, it investigates SNP and Indel mutations up to 150 bp.
