Ektodermale Dysplasien (ED) sind eine Gruppe seltener Erkrankungen, bei denen Anomalien in Haut, Haaren, Zähnen, Nägeln und Schweißdrüsen auftreten. Es gibt verschiedene Arten und das klinische Bild ist unterschiedlich, auch abhängig vom beteiligten Gen. Die häufigste Form ist die hypohidrotische ektodermale Dysplasie (HED). Derzeit gibt es keine Heilung für HED, die Behandlung basiert jedoch auf der Symptombehandlung und der Betreuung der betroffenen Menschen.
Dieser Test ist für Personen geeignet, bei denen in der persönlichen oder familiären Vorgeschichte eine ektodermale Dysplasie aufgetreten ist oder die Symptome wie Anomalien der Finger- und Zehennägel, Zahnanomalien, vermindertes Schwitzen und fehlende Kopfhaut- oder Körperbehaarung aufweisen.
Die Analyse berücksichtigt die Mutation der Keimbahn-DNA und untersucht SNP- und Indel-Mutationen bis zu 150 bp.
