Type 4 Spastic Paraplegia Report
Type 4 Spastic Paraplegia is a particular type of Spastic Paraplegia, in particular it falls into the ""pure"" forms, which do not involve the nervous system. It is a genetically determined condition, caused by mutations in the gene that codes for spastin (SPAST), a protein particularly active in the microtubules of neurons.
This test is particularly recommended for those with a family history of the disease and/or who manifest its typical signs and symptoms in a progressive manner such as weakness, muscle spasticity and walking difficulties.
The analysis takes into consideration the mutation of germline DNA, it investigates SNP and Indel mutations up to 150 bp.
