Report Fosfatasi Alcalina
Como es de esperar, esta enzima es especialmente abundante en determinadas zonas del organismo, con las siguientes isoformas ALPI (forma intestinal), ALPL (forma no específica de tejido presente en hígado, huesos y riñones), ALPP (forma placentaria) y ALPG (forma germinal).
La forma intestinal se expresa en las células del borde en cepillo y participa en las defensas antimicrobianas.
Su contribución a la concentración total de fosfatasa alcalina en suero es menor que la de la isoforma ósea y la hepática, que representan la parte mayoritaria (alrededor del 80%) y son las de mayor interés médico.
La fosfatasa alcalina ósea refleja la actividad osteoblástica e interviene en la mineralización del hueso, mientras que en el hígado se expresa en las células que recubren los conductos biliares.
La isoforma placentaria se encuentra en las mujeres embarazadas, pero su posible expresión ectópica puede estar relacionada con la neoplasia ovárica.
Por último, la fosfatasa alcalina germinal, estrechamente relacionada con la fosfatasa placentaria e intestinal, se encuentra en los testículos, el timo y en algunos tumores de la línea germinal.
