Das Waardenburg-Syndrom (WS) ist durch unterschiedlich schwere Hörstörungen und geringfügige strukturelle Anomalien gekennzeichnet, die von der Neuralleiste ausgehen und zu einer unregelmäßigen Pigmentierung der Augen, Haare und Haut führen. WS manifestiert sich in vier unterschiedlichen klinischen und genetischen Phänotypen. Derzeit gibt es keine bekannte Heilung für das Waardenburg-Syndrom, aber Menschen mit dieser Erkrankung haben normalerweise eine normale Lebenserwartung und können ein erfülltes Leben führen. Es ist jedoch wichtig, alle auftretenden Symptome anzugehen und zu behandeln.
