Autophagy is a physiological cellular process in which unwanted intracellular particles are incorporated into vesicles and degraded in the lysosomal compartment. These mechanisms contribute to the maintenance of homeostasis but, in case of alterations (including genetic) of the underlying mechanisms, they can contribute to the onset of pathological conditions.
This test is useful to know if one's endogenous cleansing mechanisms are intact and functioning, also with the aim of preventing a series of medical conditions related to the alteration of these systems.
The analysis takes into consideration the mutation of germline DNA, it investigates SNP and Indel mutations up to 150 bp.
