Hereditary Pancreatitis is a serious medical condition characterized by a chronic inflammation status, which can leads to pancreatic fibrosis and increased risk of cancer. Genetics plays a leading role in its onset, as the underlying mutations determine a chronic and pathological contact between the pancreatic tissue and the digestive enzymes produced by the pancreas itself.
This test is useful for those who have a positive family history of the disease, which is transmitted in an autosomal dominant manner, and for those who present the typical signs and symptoms of the condition, such as recurrent episodes of fever, abdominal pain, malabsorption, nausea/vomiting , digestive problems, weight loss.
