Idiopathic Short Stature panel is used to identify genetic variants associated with idiopathic short stature (ISS), a condition characterized by a height that is two or more standard deviations below the mean for age and gender, with no underlying medical cause. ISS is thought to be caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors, and this panel tests for genetic variants that can affect growth hormone signaling and other processes involved in growth.
This panel is recommended for children with short stature and no apparent medical cause, or for individuals with a family history of short stature. Early diagnosis can help identify children who may benefit from growth hormone therapy or other interventions. Genetic testing can also provide information on the risk of transmission to future generations.
The analysis takes into consideration the mutation of germline DNA, it investigates SNP and Indel mutations up to 150 bp.
