The term Prematur Ventricular Contractions indicates heartbeats that originate from the Purkinje fibers rather than from the sinoatrial node, and which appear before a regular beat. This phenomenon, of a benign and rather common nature, can derive from cardiac causes (for example cardiomyopathies) and non-cardiac/environmental causes (thyroid alterations, alcohol abuse, anxious states). Some people are asymptomatic, while others experience skipped beats followed by fluttering sensations. Genetics play important roles in predisposition.
This panel is indicated for those who experience extra heartbeats in the absence of other known reasons.
The analysis takes into consideration the mutation of germline DNA, it investigates SNP and Indel mutations up to 150 bp.
